After calendar new year, Chinese New Year will come soon. For Chinese people, the dinner before New Year is extremely important. Family member have to return to home, eating together. It is quite significant traditional customs. This year 2014, Chinese New Year’s Eve is Jan.30. In this case, the people who are working afar from hometown will try all possibilities to get back home before Jan.30. Now in inland of China, economy is not so good as coastal provinces and cities. Consequently numerous people, away from hometown, come to such place to make a living. Now it is time for them to return home and accordingly it is a highly rush hour for transportation. Train tickets, plan tickets were sold out once tickets open.
This year, our Chinese New Year holiday starts from Jan.24, ends on Feb.10. Almost all of workers will leave Guangzhou, from another view of point, Guangzhou will be a “empty” city, compared with the crowded city at ordinary times.

It is the season for people to make summary in past year 2013 and lay a plan for next New Year 2014. We are in the same situation. The year of 2013 is an extraordinary year. Global economic situation is not so clear, China government advocates “economy style” at state expense, and people's consuming desires reach freezing point. In this case, export business faces big pression, it will not help us for export business, but our export sales can be increased slightly. We are not one hundred percent satisfied, but will still invest money on overseas markets and take following actions for next year’s sale promotion.

  1. We will continue to develop application on AppStore. Customer can find us easier by searching index “furniture” and place order on line.
  2. We will show latest products on CIFF during Mar.28-31,2014
  3. We will invite some important customers to visit our factory, showroom, and some interesting place, for example, Guangzhou wild animal zoo, Hong Kong etc
  4. We will visit some old customers and potential customers after Ciff.

We expect a fruitable and productive new year 2014.

11.2013
One of our biggest customers Unitex from Russia assigns MR. Alexander Shilin to our factory to make final quality control during Nov.11 to Nov.16. There are total eight forty inch high cube containers goods to be checked. Before his coming, our QC team made one hundred percent checking, as usual, paid special attention to previous quality problems so that we can avoid the same quality claim. We believe that our quality can match their strict quality requirement and standard. If quality is higher, then quality checking could be finished in one week. We don't hope any delay.

Oct.01-07 is our national holiday. As usual, during these seven days the high way will be free of charge for the car with 7 seats or less than 7 seats. In this case, all high ways will be full of cars, all scenic spots will be quite a lot of people, the hotel, and the restaurant will be crowd, busy, full...
Our boss thinks that we will not add the trouble in public place. Therefore we hold some matches for the people who will stay in Guangzhou. Finally Dmitry Goryachev wins the billiards from the group; Samuel Fang gets the Champion of ping pang ball; Frank Deng, the master-hand in badminton, nobody can beat him in our company. He snatches the top spot without doubt. We think this is a good way to relax in such holiday.

Instruction of Double Seventh Festival

The Double Seventh Festival, on the 7th day of the 7th lunar month, is a traditional festival full of romance. It often goes into August in the Gregorian calendar. In 2013, it is Aug.13. This festival is in mid-summer when the weather is warm and the grass and trees reveal their luxurious greens. At night when the sky is dotted with stars, and people can see the Milky Way spanning from the north to the south. On each bank of it is a bright star, which see each other from afar. They are the Cowherd and Weaver Maid, and about them there is a beautiful love story passed down from generation to generation.
Long, long ago, there was an honest and kind-hearted fellow named Niu Lang (Cowhand). His parents died when he was a child. Later he was driven out of his home by his sister-in-law. So he lived by himself herding cattle and farming. One day, a fairy from heaven Zhi Nu (Weaver Maid) fell in love with him and came down secretly to earth and married him. The cowhand farmed in the field and the Weaver Maid wove at home. They lived a happy life and gave birth to a boy and a girl. Unfortunately, the God of Heaven soon found out the fact and ordered the Queen Mother of the Western Heavens to bring the Weaver Maid back.
With the help of celestial cattle, the Cowhand flew to heaven with his son and daughter. At the time when he was about to catch up with his wife, the Queen Mother took off one of her gold hairpins and made a stroke. One billowy river appeared in front of the Cowhand. The Cowhand and Weaver Maid were separated on the two banks forever and could only feel their tears. Their loyalty to love touched magpies, so tens of thousands of magpies came to build a bridge for the Cowhand and Weaver Maid to meet each other. The Queen Mother was eventually moved and allowed them to meet each year on the 7th of the 7th lunar month. Hence their meeting date has been called "Qi Xi" (Double Seventh).
Scholars have shown the Double Seventh Festival originated from the Han Dynasty (206 BCAD220). Historical documents from the Eastern Jin Dynasty (AD371-420) mention the festival, while records from the Tang Dynasty (618-907) depict the grand evening banquet of Emperor Taizong and his concubines. By the Song (960-1279) and Yuan (1279-1368) dynasties, special articles for the "Qi Xi" were seen being sold on markets in the capital. The bustling markets demonstrated the significance of the festival.
Today some traditional customs are still observed in rural areas of China, but have been weakened or diluted in urban cities. However, the legend of the Cowhand and Weaver Maid has taken root in the hearts of the people. In recent years, in particular, urban youths have celebrated it as Valentine's Day in China. As a result, owners of flower shops, bars and stores are full of joy as they sell more commodities for love.

Our colleagues Ekhilevskiy Alexey, Zatonskiy Vladimir, Lipekha Yana take part in Shanghai sanitary ware fair from May.28-31. They try to find the latest model and get some concept from new model so that we can develop new products based on wide sphere of vision. During fair, they also visit our cooperation partner who shown products at booths.
After shanghai, they fly to Guangzhou on Jun.02. The main goal is to visit CCIH ( China ceramics industry headquarter) with China office guys. We search numbers of showrooms from China famous brand, for example, ABM,SSWW,GODI etc. We are satisfied with this trip. High-end products, with few quality problem, is our principal aim.

Our partner Saoswn factory assigns his general manager, Mr Michael, sales managers Nancy and Edna to Pointex head office in Moscow. During May.12-18, guys visit head office, warehouse, Crocus Expo as well as some sightseeings, the red square, Moscow river etc.
Bilateral talks involve the development of new products, both office furniture and home furniture. It will be successful meeting, quite a lot of office furniture and home furniture models will be presented before the end of year 2013. It will be also helpful for next CIFF which is going to open next March in 2014.

Before Chinese New Year, everywhere in China various industries are in rush hour. For example, factories, transportation company, markets etc. We are in same situation. Fortunately, we prepared quite a lot of stock for international markets. And now we have more production capacity for domestic markets. It is determined by different products in different markets. Considering of the raining season in March, April, we will make more stock for north markets before holiday. Because weather in north is very dry, the products when we produce in March or April are not suitable for selling to North. In March, April, workshop will focus on mainly the products which will be sold to South of China. After year's experience, we think it is wiser decision.

In every October, there is a quite famous Canton fair in the world. Sometimes, we called it Autumn Canton fair which focuses on only export business. Even though the situation of world economy is not clear for ensuing 3-5 years, our head office still send people to visit the 1st phrase and 2nd phrase Canton fair dated Oct.15-19 and Oct.23-27 respectively. The main targets for visiting canton fair is to look for latest design of sanitary ware and decoration material. We need get some concepts and find some inspirations through the platform of Canton fair.
During canton fair, we also discuss with our suppliers who take part in the canton fair about the cooperation way in future, and summarize the problems of previous order. All of these, we guess, will be helpful for the whole company's development.

30th China International Furniture Fair (Guangzhou)-Home Furniture opens from Sep.07-10. As usual, our company staff visit this fair because our office are very close to this exhibition hall. This year, the exhibitor scale is smaller than previous year, but quite a lot of latest models are shown at the fair. Our designers get some concepts from these new products, we think it will be useful for the developing of our new models in next year.
This month also is a busy month. The 18th China international furniture expo starts in Shanghai from Sep.11 and ends on Sep.15. We will send people there and visit the fair and our suppliers near shanghai.

Our sales reached the Semi-annual target, in such bad situation (financial crisis), it is not easy. As a promise from general manager, all sales people can go to the Guangzhou TV pagoda, the highest pagoda in the world. So on Aug.19, all sales people visit the Guangzhou pagoda, the 108th floor and 107th floor. From the glass floor, some of us are frightened. And the buildings, bridges, river, cars are very small if we see through the window. There is a highest post office on the 107th floor; we can send the postcard to our friends from there. They will feel surprise and happy when they get such postcards. Everybody likes to get surprise, so let us make it!

For furniture, the painting likes the clothes of human. Therefore factory needs special care for painting. Now it is in very hot season in Guangzhou, and our painting supplier idopa, on July9th comes to our factory to train our workers about solution for furniture coating. The key points:

  1. In raining season, a balanced amount of 2-butoxyethanol must be put into paint; also dehumidify indoor air is necessary for painting and dry room.
  2. One approach is to add 8-10 per cent of slow solvents in order to avoid bubble when in very hot temperature.
  3. When re-work for paint, enough polish is a must; and better to use imported sand paper beyond 600#
  4. Choose good thinner from famous brand.

We hope such training will be helpful for our stable quality.

In view of rapid growth of Chinese business, our office in Guangzhou is increased. Mr. Dmitry Goryachev will focus on quality control, goods delivery,new sample developement and so on. We believe the group will be larger and stronger after Mr. Goryachev join China office. He is a very professional guy and can speak free Chinese language, all of these will help work better and better.

As usual, after CIFF, it is a peak season for sales people to contact the potential customers who visited our booth and shown strong interests in our products. Based on the hard situation for export business, we were thinking the domestic markets from last year. Some new models were developed for domestic markets. Also some new professional managers joined us for China markets. Therefore, in near future, we will use two legs for walk, one is export business, and another one is domestic business. We hope our business will be stable and grown step by step.

Feb.06 is our the Lantern Festival, in lunar calender, it is Jan.15 that means it is the last day for new year holiday. From Feb.07, everybody should work hard without any excuse. Therefore Lantern Festival is very important festival too. In a luxurious resturant, we stay together with boss, managers as well as some excellent workers to share a big dinner, toast each other for good new year, good health, good wealth in 2012. Everybody is happy, and ready to work.

January is the holiday season this year. Because we will spend the most important holiday: Chinese new year. Our factory will be closed from Jan.15 to Feb.05 Almost all workers will return home to get family union. In China, all tickets about train, plane, bus, as well as ship, are not enough for everybody who wants to get to his hometown. In order to keep our workers stable mood, human resource department will try to buy tickes for all workers from all possible channels. In case workers did not get tickets, factory promise to pay plane tickets, even rent bus to send workers to neighbor province. Workers are satisfied with this policy and there are no big influence on our output. All of orders can be delivered as per our schedule.

On Dec.12-13, General manager and purchase department manager visit our primary suppliers of material such as MDF board, partical board, veneer, glue, paint, even carton, foam etc. In view of the present domestic situation and globle unstable economic enviroment, we have to consider reduction of cost. The crucial policies for suppliers are centralized purchasing, Invite Bidding, Long Term Partners, tiding over the difficulties. During the visiting, they discuss the all posibilities to reduce cost in order to keep the price stalbe, avoid unnecessary waste so that we can save more profit for our customers.

Oct.10-14, our sales manager Mr.Samuel visited customer in Kazakhstan who cooperated with us since the year of 2005. During visiting, they discussed one of the big project about Kazakhstan Bank building. Our company will submit the optimalizing proposal for the project and make the best offer for this tender. After the person in charge of this project checked our sample, he was satisfied with our quality. Because we had such experience in such fields, we think we will win this project successful.

On Sep.07-09, our designer department staff and sales managers visit Dongguan famous furniture fair and Guangzhou internaitonal furniture fair where quite a lot of latest home furniture are shown. The main aim is to get some concepts on the developing trend of home furniture material and products, and to meet some customers who visit furniture fair too. Furniture fair is a good platform for all of furniture businessmen. We can reach our targets.

On August 8th, sales manager Mr.Samuel organized a training for all sales people from export department. The main activity is to assemble a mobiel pedestal. It included how to fix drawer, how to assemble lock, slider, pull etc... After this training, all sales people learned a lot about furniture, which will help them to understand more about furniture and,very important, to be a more professional sales. "Such training will be continued in ensuing month" Samuel said,"If a sales did not know how to assemble furniture, he will be not a qualified sales at all."

After film, our colleagues feel that a strong and independant country is extremely important. It is obvious that the leaders play significant role in one country or one company. Therefore, HR department also will train more middle-level leaders through books, film, lecture and so one. On the other hand, stablility is key factor for country development, so does one company. HR will search more true information from various level of staff, then make good policy to cultivate better work atmosphere.

In view of rapid increasing of customer visiting factory and showroom, company sales director decided to buy a business car with seven seaters on next month, which will solve the problem that the present cars are not enough and inconvenient. This decision will be approved by board of directors on Jun.30th. We believe we will provide more comfortable service for customer visiting after new business car will be put into use.

Pointex's Russian branch thanks partners and friends visiting our booth at Euro Expo Mebel'11 exhibition on May 17th-20th. Presentation of several Chinese new models of home and office furniture attracted a lot of customers. We expect a good feedback from this exhibition because of a strong position at Russian market and fast growth of Russian economy during last year.

On April 04th, Sales department had a meeting to summarize CIFF (27th China international furniture fair) during Mar.27-30. Totally, around 358 persons from 31 countries and area visited our booth. We met with some old customers and quite a lot of new potential customers, for example, HermanMiller Viet Nam office, May office furniture group from India; Indovickers etc. Customers mainly are from Austrialia, India, Middle east, whose proportion is around 69%. All salesmen report their idea about ciff. Finally sales director assign several steps for new customer develop.

a. Wirte email to all customers who visited our booth, mainly reminded the chat record during meeting at ciff
b. Send catalogues to the customers who intend to build business relationship with us
c. Visit China office where some overseas company set agent.
d. In view of huge india markets, maybe make plan to visit India after email contacts
e. Make some international call to important customers, so that they can remember us

2011 is the Year of the Rabbit, which is also known by its formal name of Xin Mao. Chinese New Year is the longest and most important celebration in the Chinese calendar. Chinese months are reckoned by the lunar calendar, with each month beginning on the darkest day. New Year festivities traditionally start on the first day of the month and continue until the fifteenth, when the moon is brightest. In China, people may take weeks of holiday from work to prepare and celebrate the New Year. This year, China 2011 starts from Feb.03

It is time we summarize the results of 2010 and make plans for 2011. In January, 3d, 2011 there was held top managers' meeting. According to our statistics presented by the financial department, the sales volume of 2010 was increased by 15% compared to 2009, at the same time our total profit was kept within the same amount. That means we already faced material and labor cost increase, but we did not increase price for customer. We used every possibility to enlarge our sales so that we could keep the profit amount at the same rate. During the meeting there was also worked out the main targets for 2011: sales volume increase, cost down plan, staff training plan, visiting customer plan etc. Due to the worked out strategy we all believe that 2011 will be prosperous and fruitful.

In December 20th-22d, 2010 there was held a tender meeting in our factory in view of the pressure of global cost rapid increase. Our main strategy is to keep reasonable cost for different supplied materials such as MDF board, particle board, veneer, paint, hardware fittings etc. At least four material supplier companies were included into our purchasing 2011 year plan. After days' negotiation, finally we chose the most suitable suppliers based on the price, quality standard, customer service, payment term, delivery term etc. We believe our price will be competitive during the year 2011.
